Functional brace for genu recurvatum

The M.4 AGR is a functional knee orthosis. The product is exclusively to be used for the orthotic fitting of the knee and only on unbroken skin.

Product features
  • Shores inserted to provide a progressive absorption system: blue lowest density, orange mid density, yellow / transparent maximum density
  • The physioglide hinge mimics the rolling / gliding movement of the knee and ensures a secure fit
  • Predefinition of absorption load
Intended purpose

Progressive absorption system lessens the impact on the knee joint surface during the final extension phase while walking

Goal setting

The tibia support is positioned with the wider part towards the top and the concave part cushioning the inside. Remove the paper and affix the two adhesive Velcro tabs to the outer part of the tibia support so that they correspond with the two tibial straps.
Open all of the Velcro closures. Sit on a chair and position the brace around the affected leg; flex the leg so that it forms a 45° angle. Position the hinges in such a way that the centres of the hinge are positioned in line with the top part of the kneecap.
Keep the knee in a flexed position and support the two hinges at the back of the leg.Fasten the upper rear strap and then the upper front strap. Keep the knee in a flexed position and support the two hinges at the back of the leg.Fasten the upper rear strap and then the upper front strap.
Fasten the lower rear strap; and then the upper rear strap.
For knee devices worn without a tibia support, follow the numbering of the straps: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. To prevent the brace from slipping, gently flex the knee and check that the Velcro straps have been correctly fastened.

Adjusting the extension:
Extension limitation inserts (grey; extension limits): 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°
The medial adjustment (inner) and lateral adjustment (outer) of the degrees should always be equal. Extension inserts at 0° are already integrated into the brace.
To change the inserts, loosen the cover screws, remove the cover and unscrew the insert screws. To easily remove the inserts, gently bend the knee device.
The extension inserts are marked R-E (RIGHT) or L-E (LEFT) and indicate the respective degrees. Position the insert in such a way that the letter L or R is the same as the hinge plate. Push the new extension insert between the two plates and fasten it with the screws.
Bend and flex the hinge to check that the inserts have been correctly positioned. Lastly, reposition the hinge cover.
