The medi Ankle sport brace can be used for chronic ligament instability in the upper and lower ankle and for irritations in the ankle. It can also be worn as a preventative measure when resuming sports activities after an ankle injury, to prevent twisting of the ankle. Thanks to the stabilising elements integrated on the sides, the lacing and the strap system, the medi Ankle sport brace provides stability and support for the ankle. The flat design makes the brace pleasantly comfortable to wear, even with shoes on.

Product features
  • Modular design and lacing enables individual adjustment of the brace.
  • The rigid base material, the two side elements and a strap system stabilise the ankle.
  • Flat design for comfort in the shoe.
Intended purpose

The brace supports the ankle via the interplay of the fastening, the integrated stabilisation shells on both sides and the removable fastening system. The strap system and the fastening support the body’s own stabilising mechanisms and offer additional support, in a similar manner to athletic tape. The stabilisation shells at the sides can be removed and the brace is thus adaptable to every individual. When moving the shells, note that the space between them must surround the ankle in order to provide an optimal level of  comfort during wear. The medi Ankle sport brace is therefore also suitable for prophylactic prevention of sprains. This is particularly valid for sports, when the muscles become fatigued.

Goal setting

Undo all straps and loosen the fastenings of the brace so that you can place your foot into it easily. Take hold of the top of the brace on both sides and pull it over your foot until the heel opening is in the correct position. The ankle joint should be centred in the space between the stabilising shells. Now tie up the brace, going from top to bottom, as you would a shoe. Now take the longer outer strap. Pull it over the arch of your foot (instep) to the inside of your foot and then feed it under the middle portion of the sole of the foot. Now grip the loop of the strap with a finger and pull it up the side of your leg. Fasten the strap slightly above the ankle joint. When doing this, ensure that your foot is in a neutral position (at 90° to your leg). Now take the inside strap and pull it over the arch of your foot (instep) to the outside of your foot and then feed it under the middle portion of the sole of the foot. Now grip the loop of the strap with a finger and pull it up the side of your leg. Fasten the strap slightly above the ankle joint. Now do up the belt that goes around the circumference of the leg. Check that the brace fits snugly and that you feel stable in it. The brace can be altered or adjusted according to your requirements at any time. To achieve this, you can change the position of or remove the straps around the heel and also move or remove the stabilising shells.
